EVOLUTION

A journey through the human psyche while it endeavours to undergo a process of transmutation towards Enlightenment. Each drawing evolves and expands in a continuum of development, inviting and intriguing viewers to look inwards to open their minds and expand outwards developing the Self.

oneness through knowledge

The Self in Jungian psychology signifies the unification of consciousness and unconsciousness in a person, and represents the psyche as a whole. The Self, according to Carl Jung, is realised as the product of individuation, which in his view is the process of integrating one's personality. It is described as a circle with the centre unknown to you, sitting deep within the unconscious mind pushing your capabilities and instincts.

    Atonement /əˈtəʊnm(ə)nt/ noun
The action of making amends for a wrong or injury.

The words “atone” and “atonement” are derived from the expressions “make at one” and “at onement”.

“the condition of being at one with others”
“reconciliation or restoration of friendly relations between God and sinners”
“propitiation of an offended or injured person, by reparation of wrong or injury; amends, satisfaction, expiation”

To atone is to do something to repair or fix a rupture by addressing the source of the rupture, for example the wrongdoing in a relationship - applying to both relationships between non-divine people, and relationships between God and non-divine people. The end goal is to become one, to be at one, or to reconcile.

The Self encompasses all the possibilities of your life, the energies, the potentialities, and everything you are capable of becoming. It is often confused with the ego, but whereas the ego is a temporal structure that gives us identity in this life, the Self is space-and-timeless. The ego is the centre of consciousness and the Self is the centre of total personality encompassing both the conscious and unconscious aspects of an individual. It gradually wakes during the first part of your life and goes to sleep again in later stages. The Self is a part of nature, and opens out into nature and the universe over time.
